This is very cool, especially the scene of the twikes crossing the stream. These would be perfect in a James Bond film.
The one available in Switzerland were selling for equivlent of about $15k. There is supposely going to be a newer version available in USA for $45k.
I have no idea why they are charging so much. Thy Kyoto mounted with an electric hub motor or two may be a much more cost effective alternative to the TWike.
Twikes look like they’d be fun, I found out about them when I was looking into Sinclair C5′s.
Price is all about production volume. I could see a vehicle like the Twike being made for under $3,000 in large volume. Perhaps not with its exact configuration today.
A higher top speed would actually be good to have. So long as you’re not holding up traffic, drivers won’t be as inclined to treat you with disrespect. Such a vehicle would be like a motorcycle in terms of safety. Not perfect, but enough.
Greater efficiency is always a good thing. But Increase speed?
The Twike already has a top speed of over 50mph.
It would be reckless to go any faster than that in such a light vehicle with virtually no protection. The posted speed limit is fast enough.
I love the Twike just as it is. The only thing I would change is the price, so I could afford one.
I don’t think they are that loud. I think the video was edited to make it more dramatic. There is another nice video without the added sound effects and music. You can hear the actual sound the twikes make. In that video, the driver talks about it being quiet.
Are they really that loud?
These can also be rharge by mini or micro turbine or other ICE engines with an electricity generator.
Needs better aerodynamics to increase speed and efficiency.
