Its good to see that F1 is finally making changes that will level the playing field, we might actually see racing that really does give the entire field a chance at victory. There is no question the new cars are ugly, and its a shame that we have stepped backwards in that respect. Formula 1 has always been a place where the bleeding edge of technology met the track, I fear that we will lose some of this with all the new regulations.

I mentioned this on another vid but I think the cars started getting ugly in 1995.

OKiteBoarderO July 22, 2009 at 11:08 pm

have the cars decided to go back in time?

wolfmother4eva July 24, 2009 at 6:49 am

it’s not just the wings, it’s the whole shape of the car, it’s just hideous, they don’t look right… the 2004 cars looked the best, before they put all of the winglets on the sidepods, they looked fantastic and very modern… the 2009 cars are just horrible…

by the way, nice helmet collention.

schumacher, prost and the greatest of them all, Senna…

i seen the new ferrari, it looks good, i like the new cars, big front wing but never mind, and its really coke bottled shaped

varga1988 July 27, 2009 at 7:45 pm

Lets hold our breath for the ferrari launch on monday :/

If anything, the gap between teams will be bigger this year than last year. Last year (2008), the grid was seperated by maybe 1.5 to 2 seconds.

the actual body of the BMW looks great to me.
Maybe they can widen the rear wing and reduce the angle, they might need to tweak the spec and still keep clean air behind the cars.

I LOVED the look of last years cars, but, 2009s cars, are just HIDEOUS!!!

racedriver52 August 2, 2009 at 11:28 am

the slicks make it look so wierd

gtfour93 August 3, 2009 at 11:49 pm

Slicks FTW!

gir745 August 6, 2009 at 7:19 pm

Agreed. The rear wing is sooo ugly, too high. They look like lower formulas cars.

damaster316 August 10, 2009 at 2:33 am

I think the front wings look massive because the wheels are alot closer to the body of the car than they used to be,its like there putting new style suspension on a pre 97 car if you get what i mean?but as for the rear wing, if they have a comming together and the rear wing falls off I say leave it off for the rest of the race and dont bother coming in to get it replaced it’s that ugly lol….

DC9990 August 12, 2009 at 9:16 am

I thought the honda looks nice in a way. Keep the old rear wing with the new fronts :P Kinda nice in a way.. Loads better than the fugly ass BMW!!

motorsports100 August 15, 2009 at 6:58 am

Sorry, we love the push to pass….
I dont think it will be a piece of cake to pass…
It will be very tactical, to counter push to block pass. and 80hp is not really that much more percentage of power, and then factor in 250Km plus speeds when passing, and so much power is soaked up by drag.

miclatusmaximus August 17, 2009 at 6:20 pm

why are all you people only looking for the looks?

miclatusmaximus August 18, 2009 at 9:19 am

I kinda like the cars, in my opinion I just like the much cleaner look now with all those winglets and horns gone. The cars are not that bad. And less downforce means more overtaking and more competition cuz im really getting tired of teams like ferrari and mclaren bmw and reanault always dominating. SO its good to see some competition from other teams

alinasser4 August 19, 2009 at 11:36 am

the 2009 f1 cars arnt tht bad actually, the front wing in my opinion looks pretty good but the rear wing will make u think WTF !!! but eventually weel get used to them and we wont mind it and u f1 podcast guys, would u think f1 should have v12 engines built in them ??

beeDUB75 August 21, 2009 at 5:23 am

The front wings are designed to reach out beyond the rear wings in an effort to get cars to follow each other better. If you look at the BM front on you see this well. The front wings don’t start flaring out until they are past the outside points of the rear. If it means better racing we’ll all fall in love with them…

steveninthematrix August 25, 2009 at 5:48 am

A1 cars, based on 2004 Ferrari, but with less aero and aero-bits, looks very very nice..

F1 cars… look terrible!!! … make the rear wing a normal size but only one element/filament
