The 1985 Honda CRX HF can easily do 50mpg...with a carburator..23 years ago. The 1978 Rabbit Diesel was close to 50mpg as well..30 years ago. I'm not impressed with hybrids. But first and foremost we need to ban SUV's - or at the least put a heavy tax on them to discourage ownership. Then we need to focus on fuel efficient cars. The 1996 Geo Metro got almost 50 mpg. And look at the TATA. Thats what we need. Small affordable cars that get 50 mpg. THEN we can explore real alternative energy. What are your solutions?
